So originally, Brian and I were planning on taking a 5-day Carnival cruise out of New Orleans to western Mexico for our honeymoon.
After receiving a special offer e-mail from Disney, I brought up the idea of honeymooning there. It turns out that we can get 6 nights at Disney with a free Disney Dining Plan for less than the cost of the 5-day cruise. It includes 7 park tickets, free transportation around the park, and extra park hours. The dining plan includes a sit-down meal, a quick service meal, and a snack each day. So Brian and I spoke today and decided on Disney. We went there for our birthdays in Feb. 2006 and had a really great time. We got treated really well because we had on our birthday buttons, and while we were there, we saw at least a couple honeymooning couples wearing the “wedding ears” and all of them were getting treated really well too! It looks like we will stay in one of the moderate resorts. It looks like it will be either Caribbean Beach or one of the Port Orleans resorts. We stayed at Port Orleans – French Quarter in June 2006 with our friend Danielle for 2 nights and we had a really good time. ETA: Looks like it will be one of the Port Orleans resorts for sure — no rooms are available at the Caribbean Beach resort. We may do a Disney Honeymoon registry as well to pay for extras like massages or special activities. You can even register for tickets to Cirque du Soleil La Nouba, which I saw in ’06, but would love to see again. So excited! -K
